1. In promoting the ethics, safety, and spirit of youth field hockey, Baystate Youth Field Hockey League
(“Baystate”) has adopted this Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct is binding upon all its

Spectators. Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action against any offender.
2. Unsportsmanlike conduct shall include the following: fighting, verbal abuse, bullying of any team
member or dissent toward an official or opponent, racial or ethnic slurs, inappropriate comments or
actions that may be construed as sexual harassment, profanity, obscene gestures, flagrant and
violent fouls, taunting, "trash talk", baiting, cheating, throwing or abusing equipment, physical
intimidation or abuse of an official or opponent, and unauthorized leaving of a team bench area.
Additionally, any cyber bullying or use of social networking internet sites to insult, harass, taunt or
bully in any kind may result in disciplinary action by the Board or its designee.
3. ALL THOSE ASSOCIATED WITH BAYSTATE (including parents and spectators) WILL:
a) Show the proper respect to all participants and spectators both on and off the field.
b) NOT at any time push, shove, punch, kick, fight or be guilty of physical contact as an aggressor
upon any official, player, coach, parent, spectator or other(s).
c) NOT verbally abuse or threaten any Baystate officer, official, player, coach, parent or spectator
or other(s).
d) NOT harass or bait any official, player, coach, parent or spectator or other(s).
e) NOT use tobacco, alcohol or illegal narcotics in front of any coaches or players during practices
or games or be present during practices or games under the influence of alcohol or illegal
narcotics. This rule also applies to Baystate officers representing Baystate at any public event.
4. The Baystate Board of Directors is responsible for the conduct of its officers and directors. Each
Member Program is responsible for the conduct of its members, coaches, and players, subject to
review by Baystate as provided herein. Member Programs shall inform Baystate of any conduct
which may constitute a violation of this code of conduct, along with any disciplinary actions taken by
the Member Program, by submitting an incident report in writing via email to

Directors to be particularly egregious, repetitive in nature, or not to have resulted in disciplinary
action by the Member Program commensurate with the reported conduct, the Baystate Board of
Directors, or discipline sub-committee, shall review the activity and determine by majority vote
whether any additional disciplinary action is warranted.
